In high school, I was such a music snob. If this blog were in the past, I probably wouldn’t be posting this because what 15 year old in all black wants to admit she’s a total Britney fangirl?
I’ve listened to Britney (proudly or in the dark) since her appearance on the scene with …Baby One More Time. This summer I had the pleasure of seeing her live for the first time on the Femme Fatale tour. And let me just say, the girl can put on a show.
B In The Mix: The Remixes Vol. 2 is Britney’s second volume of remixes that came out today (Tuesday, October 11).
The album features remixes of some of the more recent hit singles from the Incredible Miss Britney Spears. I’m not going to lie to yall, I’m not the biggest fan of remixes. Something about the droning on and on of the beats just grates at my nerves. Maybe it’s because I’m a Britney fan, or maybe it’s because these are just really well done, but this album made me want to dance instead of making me want to clip my ear drum.
When I opened the album up and saw that Radar was on the track listing (Radar – Tonal Club Remix), I flipped. I’ve loved Radar since the Circus album and it somehow keeps getting better with every album it’s on. This remix isn’t holding anything back as it divides Miss Spears’ vocals describing what kind of man she wants by grinding beats.
The Womanizer – Benny Benassi Extended Mix is something that Pauly D would be proud to tell you to fist-pump to and I’m not afraid to admit that I would enjoy every second of that. This remix is slowed down in some places, halting the dancing if you thought you were going to get your groove on and bust out some Spears choreography. It slows down into a soothing groove right before picking back up in the last minute of the song.
Circus – Linus Loves Remix brings a new funky sound to the otherwise straightforward pop title track from a couple years back. On first listen, I might tell you that I enjoy the chorus of this song better than the original. On second listen, I would confirm this (yes, 2 play counts!).
Fitting in with the name of this blog, If U Seek Amy – U-Tern Remix sounds like the track could’ve been played in the 70s instead of 2011. And the 70s are not ready to Seek Amy.
The 3 – Manhattan Clique Remix Club may be the saving grace of all the remixes on this album. B’s vocals mix so well with the beat that’s been chosen to drape the background that I would say this track is better than the original.
3 – Manhattan Clique Remix Club, track 8
Till the World Ends – Alex Suarez Club Remix, track 9
Radar – Tonal Club Remix, track 3
